At the lodge, we offer accommodation in the cabins or at our private campground. To save yourself extra weight in your back-pack, you can book your meals and drinks with us too, just read on.

ACCOMMODATION

You can chose between staying in the lodge cabins or at our private riverfront campground. We are open on Friday and Saturday nights only. We can arrange a mid-week booking if you book one or both cabins - please email us to organise.

Pets are not allowed at the lodge due to abundance of native wildlife. We are here for the walkers who need a good night rest, so no parties are allowed either and quiet time is from 10pm.

The cabins are fully equipped with sturdy wooden bunk beds, comfy mattresses, pillows & doonas (bedding sheets and covers are provided). In winter, cabins are heated by slow combustion fires for a comfortable night’s sleep.

FACILITIES

The outdoor kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, utensils, glassware and cutlery. Cooking facilities include a gas cook-top and BBQ. A guest fridge is not available, so please bring food which does not need to be refrigerated.

Composting toilet and a basic cold shower is available. Please bring your own towel, as well as a headlamp to wear around the lodge at night. We are entirely off grid and the solar power is limited.

Large campfire has a sitting area and wood supplied.

FOOD & DRINKS

We can arrange your main meals, catering for the following dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free). Please book your meals and specify requirements in the comments section of the online booking form. Note that we don‘t require upfront payment for the meals and we will balance that during check out. We try our best to use locally sourced, seasonal produce and sustainably sourced meat.

Typical lodge menu consists of:

  • Dinner ($25) - roo stew full of fresh herbs and vegetables cooked for 10 hours and served with mashed potato and rice (vegetarian/vegan stew also available). We use kangaroo meat for this dish as it's the most sustainable meat option on the market and has lower impact on the environment. It is also good for your health - lean, high in protein, rich in B vitamins, minerals such as zinc, iron and omega 3 fats and omega 6 fatty acids.
  • Breakfast ($20) – buffet style breakfast includes selection of muesli and cereal with milk, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs (free range from neighbour's farm), cheese, bacon, baked beans, sliced tomatoes, spreads, sourdough bread, juice, selection of teas and plunger coffee
  • Take-away lunch ($20) – two wraps with salami, cheese, home made spread & veg, nut bar & fruit
  • Hot and cold drinks are also available ($3.00 - $8.50) - tea, plunger coffee, soft drinks, local wine (Central Ranges - Mudgee, Orange), cider and a good selection of beer. You are welcome to bring your favourite drink and enjoy in moderation - $10 / head corkage applies to BYO.

Dinner is served between 6pm and 8pm and we make breakfast from as early as 6am until 8am.

Note:

  • Kids under 6 years get $5 off each meal
  • $2.50 surcharge for Gluten Free breakfast or lunch applies

Please contact us directly if you'd like to discuss catering for special occasions or large functions.

TRANSPORT

  • Buses from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves are not running at the moment. The most convenient and cheapest option for you is to organise a taxi from Katoomba to take you to Jenolan Caves early morning and walk to the lodge. This is how most people do it when staying with us and conquering the walk in 2 days - if you are reasonably fit and carry just a day pack, the 28km walk from Jenolan Caves to the Eco Lodge is doable in 7-8 hours (note that the 18km walk from Black Range to the Eco Lodge is mostly down-hill). The next day you will have an easy 16km hike to Explorers Tree, Katoomba.
  • Blue Mountains Maxi Taxi can take up to 9 passengers and they charge $300 flat fee for the transfer between Jenolan Caves and Katoomba. Email them here to make a booking: bluemountainsmaxitaxi@gmail.com

CANCELLATION POLICY

We do not give refunds for booking cancellations. Instead, we will give a credit if the booking is changed with at least a 45-day notice for group bookings (4+ guests) and a 21-day notice for any other bookings (less than 4 guests). If you don't cancel within this time-frame, you won't be eligible for a refund or credit as it is hard for us to fill up vacancies at a short notice. Please understand, when you commit to staying with us, we are commited too - we have a bed for you and meals prepared. In addition, if you don't let us know you are not coming on the day and we have bought and prepared meals for you, we will charge a 50% of the regular meal price to cover the cost. In any way, get in touch with us as soon as you know you cannot make it so that we are not worried about your safety. Thank you for understanding.
